Daniel stopped at a small café after work. It was raining outside, and people were hurrying along the wet street.
While he was waiting for his coffee, he noticed a folded piece of paper on the next table. At first, he thought it was a receipt, but a name was written on the front: “For Clara.”
Daniel looked around. No one was sitting nearby. He opened the note carefully. It said, “I waited for you until six. I hope you are safe. Please call me.” There was no signature.
He asked the waitress if she knew Clara. She remembered a woman in a green jacket who had left ten minutes earlier. Daniel ran outside and saw the woman waiting at the bus stop.
“Excuse me, are you Clara?” he asked. She looked surprised. When Daniel gave her the note, her expression changed.
“My brother wrote this,” she said. “My phone stopped working, and he did not know where I was.” She borrowed Daniel’s phone and made the call.
The bus arrived, but Clara did not get on it. Before Daniel returned to the café, she thanked him and said, “You found more than a piece of paper. You found the message I needed.”

1. Simple Past
Use o passado simples para ações concluídas. Verbos regulares normalmente recebem -ed; verbos irregulares mudam de forma.

2. Past Continuous
Use was/were + verbo-ing para uma ação que estava acontecendo no passado, muitas vezes quando outra ação ocorreu.

3. Perguntas e pronomes objeto
No passado, perguntas normalmente usam Did + sujeito + verbo na forma base. Pronomes objeto aparecem depois do verbo ou de uma preposição.
